Soup & Snow
a perfect pairing
There’s something about the thought of snow falling that compels me to make soup. Whether it’s a puree base or broth, I put on my mad chef hat and play.
Lately, I’ve been making my own vegetable broth as a base for what I call, “Immunity Soup,” which always has tons of garlic, onion, and ginger – all other ingredients are based on whatever I have on hand. I have never made the same soup twice.
Twenty-one inches fell in my hometown overnight, and this was the soup that went with it.
(Immunity Broth, carrots, purple cabbage, potatoes, turnips, broccoli, snap peas, bowtie pasta, shrimp.)
